Harnessing Remote Sensing for Global Sustainability, Resilience, and Technology Innovation

27–31 October 2025 | Makassar, Indonesia

PELAKITA.ID – Makassar, Indonesia is proud to host the 46th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2025) from October 27–31, 2025.

Recognized as Asia’s premier remote sensing event, ACRS 2025 will convene an international community of scientists, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore the pivotal role of remote sensing in shaping a sustainable and resilient global future.

This conference is organized by the Indonesian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS/MAPIN) and Hasanuddin University in partnership with the Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS), this year’s conference embraces the theme “Harnessing Remote Sensing for Global Sustainability, Resilience, and Technology Innovation.”

Indonesia has hosted the event three times before in 1998 in Jakarta, 2013 in Bali and this year 2025 in Makassar

ACRS 2025 aims to stimulate meaningful exchanges through keynote speeches, technical sessions, interactive workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the latest in geospatial technologies.

Special sessions will include the General Meeting of AARS, award ceremonies recognizing outstanding contributions, and networking events such as a cultural night and official banquet.

A Legacy of Excellence

From Bangkok to Makassar: The ACRS Journey

The journey of ACRS began in 1980 in Bangkok, Thailand, marking a milestone in the development of remote sensing in Asia. A year later, the Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS) was established at the 2nd ACRS in Beijing, China. Since then, the conference has grown into a vital platform, uniting professionals from over 60 countries, with AARS now comprising members from 29 nations.

Hosted annually across different member countries, ACRS uniquely blends academic excellence with cultural exchange. From Colombo to Kathmandu, and now to Makassar, the conference continues to catalyze collaborative research and technological innovation.

Sri Lanka, notably, has hosted ACRS multiple times (1983, 1996, 2008, 2016, 2024), illustrating the regional commitment to geospatial advancement.
