1. Who Can Submit

Citizen journalism is open to:

  • Community members

  • Students

  • Activists

  • Volunteers

  • Independent writers

  • Anyone with firsthand information or lived experience

No formal journalism background is required.

2. Types of Articles Accepted

Submissions may include:

  • Community news and local events

  • Social issues and public interest stories

  • Environment, education, health, or cultural topics

  • Human-interest stories

  • Opinions based on facts and real experiences

  • Photo stories or short video reports (optional)

3. Writing Requirements

  • Original work only (not previously published elsewhere)

  • Based on facts, observations, or direct experience

  • Clear, honest, and responsible language

  • Free from hate speech, hoaxes, and personal attacks

Recommended length:

  • 500–1,000 words (flexible depending on topic)

4. Structure of the Article

Your article should include:

  1. Title – Clear and informative

  2. Lead paragraph – Who, what, where, when, why

  3. Body – Facts, quotes, observations, background

  4. Closing – Conclusion, reflection, or call to action

Use short paragraphs for readability.

5. Sources & Accuracy

  • Mention sources when quoting people or institutions

  • Clearly distinguish facts from personal opinions

  • Avoid spreading unverified information

  • If using data, state where it comes from

6. Photos & Multimedia (Optional)

  • Submit original photos or videos only

  • High resolution preferred

  • Include captions: what, where, when

  • Confirm you have consent if identifiable people appear

7. Ethics & Responsibility

Citizen journalists must:
