PELAKITA.ID – In the period from September 2024 to March 2025, there has been an increase in the number of registered indigenous territory maps in Indonesia, covering a total of 2.2 million hectares.
The total registration of indigenous territories up to March 17, 2025, is 32.3 million hectares, encompassing 1,583 maps. The Badan Registrasi Wilayah Adat (BRWA) has verified about 680,000 hectares of the registered territories.
Additionally, there has been an increase in the recognition of indigenous territories, with 18 territories covering a total of 535,985 hectares in the past six months.
The overall recognition of indigenous territories has reached 5.4 million hectares out of the 32.3 million that have been registered, which accounts for about 16.7%.
However, there is a need for the integration of recognized indigenous territory maps into the One Map Policy, as these maps have not been registered in the national data system.
This lack of integration hinders the government and other stakeholders from using the maps for development and management purposes.
