PELAKITA.ID – The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a Workshop on Improving Hasanuddin University’s Global Ranking at Unhas Hotel & Convention on Tuesday (February 10, 2026).
The activity, which was conducted in conjunction with the signing of a Performance Agreement, forms part of FKM Unhas’s strategic efforts to support the enhancement of Hasanuddin University’s international reputation.
The Dean of FKM Unhas, Prof. Sukri Palutturi, SKM, M.Kes., MSc.PH., PhD, explained that the workshop focused on two main agendas. The first centered on discussions and the formulation of strategies to improve Unhas’s global ranking, particularly through contributions from the field of public health.
“Today, we are discussing and formulating strategies to improve Hasanuddin University’s global ranking, especially from the perspective of public health sciences,” said Prof. Sukri.
He added that, to enrich the formulation of these strategies, FKM Unhas involved all department heads, vice deans, the Quality Assurance Unit (GPM), as well as the Chair and Secretary of the Faculty Senate, so they could provide comprehensive and strategic input.
According to him, the involvement of all elements of faculty leadership is essential to ensure that the resulting policies and strategies can be implemented optimally and sustainably. Prof. Sukri emphasized that FKM Unhas plays a significant role in supporting the achievement of the university’s global reputation.
Meanwhile, the second agenda of the workshop was the signing of a Performance Agreement between the Dean of FKM Unhas and the Vice Deans, GPM, and department leaders.
The agreement serves as a follow-up to the performance contract previously agreed upon between the Rector of Unhas and the Dean of the Faculty.
“The performance targets assigned to the faculty are quite substantial. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly delineate roles and responsibilities so that each unit can work more effectively and optimally,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Prof. Sukri also highlighted the importance of increasing scientific publications in reputable international journals as one of the key indicators in assessing a university’s global reputation. He referred to the Unhas Rector’s policy encouraging the optimization of publications in Q1-ranked journals as a strategic step.
“Publications in Q1 journals are one of the main priorities. We encourage grant-recipient lecturers, doctoral students, including PMDSU, Research, and TRG students within FKM Unhas, to be more confident and proactive in publishing their scientific work,” he stated.
He expressed hope that department leaders would maximize the use of human resources and other available resources in line with the performance targets set by the university.
In addition, the roles of the Vice Deans and the Quality Assurance Unit (GPM) are also expected to further strengthen the faculty’s performance achievements in accordance with their respective duties and functions.
